The SPA is patented technology that creates self-priming capability for all Hypro centrifugal pumps.

The SPA allows a single, high performance and low cost centrifugal pumping system to be used for both tank-filling and spraying and eliminates the need for a separate transfer pump.

The SPA works by separating out the air in an empty suction line from the liquid it uses in the priming cycle. The liquid re-circulates until the pump is fully primed.

In tests with Hypro’s 9306 centrifugal pump and the SPA a 5000 litre sprayer was filled in just 7 minutes, compared to 20 minutes for a typical 250 l/min positive displacement pump.

Centrifugals are higher in output, cheaper in cost, much lighter and smaller than positive displacement pumps traditionally seen on European sprayers. They are therefore easier for manufacturers to incorporate into their sprayer design. The SPA can then be mounted remotely, up to 3 metres from the pump.
